Santuario Pelagos

A sea to protect

Off the Ligurian coast extends the Pelagos Sanctuary, a marine protected area dedicated to the protection of Mediterranean marine mammals, resulting from an international agreement signed by Italy, France and the Principality of Monaco on November 25, 1999 in Rome.
Thanks to particular hydrological conditions, this maritime space possesses great biological richness and hosts, in particular, numerous species of cetaceans.
With an area of 87,500 km2, the Sanctuary is designed to protect marine mammals from all causes of disturbance arising from human activities.
The waters of Borghetto Santo Spirito are part of this precious environment, where it is possible to encounter dolphins, whales and other marine species.
A natural heritage to know and respect, which makes the sea even more special and invites you to experience it consciously.
