“Sentimental Diary of a Free Woman”. Pacifico’s Tribute to Ornella Vanoni

Last appointment of the summer series Theater in the village. The protagonist of the event will be Italian singer-songwriter and musician Luigi De Crescenzo, known as Pacifico. At 21.30, in the suggestive setting of the historic Cinema Vittoria arena, with the show “Sentimental Diary of a Free Woman”, a tribute show dedicated to Ornella Vanoni. It is a meeting made of words, memories and music, born from a long and deep acquaintance. Pacifico tells the story of Ornella starting from the years spent together, on a human and artistic level: the meetings, the conversations, the songs, the shared episodes. The personal narrative is interwoven with pages from the biography Winner or Loser, written together with Vanoni herself, while Carlo Gaudiello on the piano and Elisa Parmigiani on vocals bring to music some of the most important pieces of her extraordinary career. An intimate, ironic and surprising account emerges, far from the artist’s purely public image. It is the Ornella that allows herself to be approached, the one with carefully kept memories and those that would be better kept at a distance; of lightness used as an antidote to melancholy, of fears, contradictions, curiosity and that freedom she never stopped claiming. Pacifico knew her closely and found her exactly as he remembered: intelligent, unpredictable, amusing, capable of surprising and moving in a matter of a few words. Over the years he has written songs for her, shared the Sanremo stage with her and collected her memories in a book born from a dialogue written by four hands. Sentimental Diary of a Free Woman thus restores an authentic and unfiltered Ornella Vanoni: fragile and combative, ironic and melancholic, full of life and fears. A woman who always preferred risk to caution and who, faced with the choice between going back and diving in, almost always chose the second path. Pacifico, stage name of Luigi De Crescenzo, is one of the most appreciated singer-songwriters and authors on the Italian music scene. Throughout his career he has written and collaborated with numerous great artists, including Ennio Morricone, Gianna Nannini, Samuele Bersani, Eros Ramazzotti, Zucchero, Giorgia, Andrea Bocelli, Malika Ayane, Francesco Gabbani and Gianni Morandi. He has released six albums under his own name. With his debut album, Pacifico, he received the Targa Tenco as best debut work. In 2015, together with Samuele Bersani, he signed The Stories You Don’t Know, awarded the Targa Tenco for Song of the Year. He participated twice in the Sanremo Festival: in 2004 as a performer, obtaining the Critics’ Award, and in 2018 together with Ornella Vanoni and Bungaro. He has also worked in cinema with directors such as Gabriele Muccino (Remember Me), Neri Marcorè (Zamora), Roberta Torre (Sud Side Story) and Michela Andreozzi (Parents Vs Influencers). In theater he wrote and performed the monologue Boxing in Milan. He is also the author of two novels, I Gave You a Kiss While You Slept and Me and My Family of Barbarians, both published by La Nave di Teseo. For the same publishing house he wrote together with Ornella Vanoni Winner or Loser, the sentimental and biographical diary that stems from their long human and artistic relationship.
