Casa Rossa
Description
In 1409 the Municipality of Albenga issued a regulation on the fortification of the tower of Borghetto and the need to build a floor in it.
A report of a visit by a captain of the Serenissima Repubblica in 1588 emphasizes the dimensions and defensive role of the Borgo of Santo Spirito: “The Borghetto is a fortified place and its defenses measure one hundred meters on the sea side, seventy-five to the east and somewhat less to the west: “There is also a quadrangular tower (the current Cassa Rossa) ten meters high and equipped with two small pieces of bronze artillery.”
This tower, now familiarly called Torre Rossa, owes its name to its characteristic coloring.
